Today, we’re sharing insights from preeminent executive-life coach Richard Leider. Richard is widely recognized for his work helping 100,000 leaders discover the power of purpose. Last fall, he helped our 650 Global Institute for Leadership Development® participants tackle big questions like: “Why would someone choose to follow me?” and “Am I on a path to becoming a great leader?” His insights about finding purpose left us feeling (more than a little!) inspired. We hope that this post, the third in our three-part series, will give you some valuable food for thought as you think about how you want to grow this year. As a leader, are you doing a job or fulfilling your true calling? When you find and fulfill your calling, you are energized at the end of the day, not drained. A calling is the natural impulse to want to add value. It is about more than doing a job. It is about recognizing your inner gifts and offering them in service of others. It is leadership in the truest sense of the word.

You don’t have to search far and wide to find your own gifts—you are born with them. These are the things that make you unique as an individual. It’s up to each of us to apply our gifts every day. These are the very gifts that equip us to solve the most pressing challenges that we face leading teams in an increasingly complex business environment.

What unique gifts do you bring to your team as a leader?
